A “Concrete” start!

We finally went through the first step in the actual dome home construction process: the foundation! The dome home will rest on a concrete monolithic slab. We called on two different contractors for this process, Gifford plumbing for the in-slab plumbing and Carolina Brothers Construction for the concrete. Although coordinating everything was tricky, and the weather not always cooperative, we are very happy with the results so far! After everything was poured we spent two weeks watering the concrete multiple times daily (unless the rain gave us a break) to ensure the concrete cured evenly. It was quite the chore, bringing in enough water daily to keep the concrete happy! The curing process takes roughly 4 weeks. We have ordered the acid stain test kit and will be finishing the flooring ourselves as that will be easier to do before the walls go up.
